Question:
What role is the Vatican and its Church playing in our nation, and what are its ties with the Kurds?
Answer:
To put it briefly, some 500 years ago or so the Vatican’s missionaries played a detrimental role in splitting the Church of the East when a Roman Catholic branch with an eastern rite was created from amongst some Assyrians, in particular a monk named Youkhana Sulaqa who was used to implement the Vatican’s plan.
In the past the Vatican’s missionaries employed the Kurds and paid them in order to exert pressure and intimidation on those Assyrians who had a change of mind and didn’t want to leave their Mother Church. Today, the Vatican is using its influence through either mobilizing its followers to be close to the Kurds or through direct contact with the Kurdish leadership perhaps to revive the past ties which had the Vatican’s missionaries allied with the Kurds against those Assyrians who had refused to abandon their ancient, true faith in order to join the ranks of Rome.
It’s really disturbing to see what’s happening since it’s obvious that both the Vatican and the Kurds will benefit from obliterating the Assyrian name. The first will continue to have control on the Catholic branch it created and the latter will continue their policy in considering all Assyrians mere Christians living in a territory under the hegemony of the Kurds.
