Turkish artillery shelling cause fire in forests and orchards (Assyrians Populated Lands)

According to eye witnesses many orchards in two villages of the Kane Mase region (near the Iraqi-Turkish) border were overcome by huge fires, as a result of Turkish artillery shelling to the area Wednesday evening. The eye witnesses told the independent Voices of Iraq news agency that the Turkish artillery shelled several areas near the villages of Betkar and Spendar in the Kane Mase region which follows the Amedi district and is 45 Km North of Dohuk.

The eye witnesses mentioned that there weren't any victims due to the shelling, except that it caused the fire which broke in the orchards and agricultural land belonging to the two villages.

In a telephone call with the Voices of Iraq at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night, a resident in the area Mr. Shleemon Ethniel (55 years) mentioned that the Turkish forces had fired five artillery shells 500 meters from the two villages of Betkar and Spendar, and that the shelling didn't result in any victims but material damages burning orchards and forests in a two Km radius.

ANA Translation Note: The name of the Assyrian city Nohadra was changed by the Kurds to Dohuk.
