Our Message to the Nation of Ashur

 

 

Rebels excel in introducing freemen … and dictators excel in producing slaves

 

Let’s be certain that Assyrianism isn’t an abstract thought, it’s a nation that was born in the Land of Ashur, which was looted. This land which is the home of every Assyrian and their eternal holy place with the belief in the truth, and the realistic national right which must be achieved if the Assyrian individual wants to conserve her/his right to existence. This is the conviction which must accompany us in our daily lives as Assyrians as well as in our activities and strife as an active nation seeking to recover that which it was robbed of.

 

In these particular circumstances, many of our parties and organizations proved not to be realistic in reading the events which took and are taking place, as they have also shown that they have a weak strategic perspective both in the short and long terms. Thus the political, denominational and tribal alternatives replaced Assyrian nationalism, hence, it’s not possible any more to deal with Assyrian nationalism as a romantic state but rather as a political stand and this isn’t an analysis but it is a political and national stand.

 

Due to the rapid degradation in the place of the Assyrian Cause at the international and Iraqi agendas turning it into a mere humanitarian and relief issue, while all the indicators show that there’s a tendency to bring back forms of external guardianship which will put the Assyrian national decision under the influence of external forces and that in turn will benefit the different interests of those factions that want to obliterate Assyria and Assyrianism. Hence, it is a necessity to preserve, protect and consider the independent Assyrian national decision as a red line not to be crossed during this crisis which is influencing the internal Assyrian situation. 

 

Ashur (Assyria) the land has existed since Creation, it’s our present and shall forever be a truth and fact in reality and in life, in minds, and in hearts; it’s the      tree which stretches in its soil and it’s always ready to lift its revered trunk and branches. Ashur isn’t a figment of imagination or a project which may or may not be realized, it exists on its own soil and within its own from one generation to another.

 

In these dire circumstances which are witnessing the awakening of our people and their readiness in silence to regain their usurped rights, raises from the inner depths of the people this political alternative which we are presenting today believing in the creed and faith of Ashur our land, Assyrian our identity and language. We are Assyria National Assembly – ANA ASHUR, born of Ashur, promise and pledge to Ashur’s nation to have a political alternative which will be a continuation to the strife of our forefathers and fathers for the sake of Ashur (Assyria). 

 

What brings us together in the first place is our firm belief that the priority of any political organization in the Assyrian nation is the Holy Assyrian Trinity, Assyria the land… Assyrian the identity and language, hence we have chosen that this group be representative as much as possible of the different components of the Assyrian society.

 

The organization which remained covert for several years and is public today, sprung from the reality of our usurped country and the helpless state of our people, thus it was born to serve the principles and goals of our Holy Assyrian Trinity. It addresses every individual of this people without discrimination or exclusion and to move the majority which remained thus far silent and our hope is to get this majority out of its silence and withdrawal away from the national and political scene in order for it to be convinced that there isn’t a political life for its national rights unless this majority is active in giving and supporting.

 

We’re tired of dead policies and linguistic rhetoric which numbs but doesn’t awaken, thus our determination is to address the Assyrian people in a clear language which they will understand, a language which will name things as they are without embellishment or bias, a language which doesn’t provoke false arrogance within an individual by using fraudulent slogans nor adorns the dark reality.

 

What most importantly distinguishes us from others is our determination to reject and not to participate in any deceiving national or patriotic agreement arranged by those claiming to work in the name of national or patriotic unity while in reality they want to tie up the Assyrian political powers and components in order to remain in charge even if it’s unjustly. However, this doesn’t mean that we’re enclosed on ourselves because we are prepared to co-operate with any political groups as long as we find in them the desire and the spirit for strife which is necessary to co-operate with us in order to get our nation out of its current situation.

 

We can’t say that we aren’t a reaction to the calamities befalling our nation and to the reality of political action in general, for we are a reaction and a front to reject the continuation of such actions, however, that doesn’t mean to remain confined in a circle of rejection and protest but rather we possess a comprehensive national project which was highlighted following a thorough dialogue and analytical reading of the reality, thus we present it not as a final substitute project but rather as a work in progress open to additions and suggestions as long as they are in line with its general nationalistic plans until the idea matures and the project becomes a complete program.

 

We are fully aware of the importance of what we are about to take on and the obstacles which we may face during these circumstances which our nation is passing through, but we are determined to assume our responsibilities and are ready for all sacrifices in order to achieve our national project. All that we hope for is to find support amongst our people so that we may move forward into realizing the nation’s national project.

 

We aren’t the best in the nation but we are ambitious to gain the support of the best within the nation. To gain the support of the Assyrian public which till this moment has remained silent and distant from national political affairs. Our hope is for our project to have the honor of bringing the Assyrian public out of their silence in order to make their voices heard: The Assyrian nation’s voice…The Assyrian conscience’s voice as it overcomes its fear and hesitation to loudly declare:

 

We shall not be intimidated by any one because we are right, Ashur is the righteous and as long as we are right, we shall continue to defend Ashur which is our right, regardless of the powers of falsehood.
